- Faiths need to engage in coordinated dialogue, starting with inter-faith dialogue
- Science and religion are both searching for truth
- Appreciation of creation through science and religion; our under-standing of the universe is evolving and even science cannot explain everything about it. All humans are searching for meaning.
- Science and religion are complementary so it makes sense to work together. We could organise events of this kind locally. Edinburgh would be a great place to start!

Learning that there is water on Mars - yes, really! is very exciting and sets us dreaming about new lands, new societies, all over again. The new horizons that are cited in this encyclical - "religious classics can prove meaningful in every age; they have an enduring power to open new horizons." - are literally stretching into space. Does the thought of colonising Mars upset our assumptions about ecology and environmental protection? Is this an opportunity to redefine "the common good"?
